About Me

Hi everyone!  My name is Suzi.  I just want to personally welcome you to my website, and tell you a little bit about myself!  I have been an educator for 36 years now.  Time has really flown by!

I decided at an early age that I wanted to be a teacher when my 1st grade teacher, Mrs. Brown, asked our class to write about what we wanted to be when we grew up.  I wrote a full page, explaining that I wanted to be a first grade teacher when I grew up, so that I could teach children how to read!  I still have the paper from so many years ago, with my photograph attached!  You see…I loved to read!  I read everything I that I could get my little 6 year old hands on!

Fast forward to sixteen years later…I was graduating from Texas Christian University with a BS in Elementary Education and a specialization in reading!  I had actually fulfilled my dream!  I think Mrs. Brown would have been proud of me, had she lived to see that day.

I taught reading in the same school district for 20 years.  Then, almost 17 years ago, I decided to leave the classroom and establish my own private tutoring business.  I have worked with well over 1,000 children during the last 36 years, and it still astounds me how many of them cannot read on their grade level.  I know that reading is at the core of pretty much everything we do in life.  In order for a person to be successful in just about any job, they have to be able to read fluently.  It’s as simple as that.  That’s why I created this website.  I have met so many frustrated parents who have witnessed their child fall into the “sink hole” of reading difficulties.  I want to assure you that it doesn’t have to be this way, and please be assured that you are not alone!  Just know that help is available!
